Do you agree with the The New York Times decision not to publish an op-ed article as submitted by McCain?
In a written statement Monday, the Times explained its decision and left the door open to publishing his views: "It is standard procedure on our op-ed page, and that of other newspapers, to go back and forth with an author on his or her submission. We look forward to publishing Sen. McCain's views in our paper just as we have in the past." The New York Times endorsed McCain in the Republican primaries, but he has had a testy relationship with the publication. Edward: Good answer

- yes
- No I do not agree but it is their perogative.
- No, they didn't want him attacking their golden boy.
- I think they should have published it as written. If it's full of mistakes like confusing Sunni and Shiite, Iraq/Pakistan border, etc., then the people have a right to know that for themselves.
- Smacks of censorship to me. If one doesn't write what the publisher wants printed it doesn't get printed. Hmmmm, do you think that ever happens in Communist countries?
- Belief Growing That Reporters are Trying to Help Obama Win The idea that reporters are trying to help Obama win in November has grown by five percentage points over the past month. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey, taken just before the new controversy involving the New York Times erupted, found that 49% of voters believe most reporters will try to help the Democrat with their coverage, up from 44% a month ago. Just 14% believe most reporters will try to help McCain win, little changed from 13% a month ago. Just one voter in four (24%) believes that most reporters will try to offer unbiased coverage. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/belief_growing_that_reporters_are_trying_to_help_obama_win
- Yep. No coherent opinion.
- Yes. He didn't submit a write-up along their guidelines. Thanks for noting that NY Times has endorsed McCain for President. Tired of reading some of these posts that the paper is biased against him.
- YES
- The New York Times is a JOKE- just like ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN & all the Liberal main stream media who wants us to know only what they want us to know. They all disgust me & I will no longer watch any of them. From here on it's all Fox News- all the time. Anyone but OBAMA!
- The biased media will do everything to hurt McCain, because the media is against the average American values. So, as usual, the early news will say Obama wins, but when the vote is cast, hum, McCain will win...how long before 69% of the American population is awakened again?
- Look stop tryng to pretend the NYT isn't a socialist propaganda machine, it's insulting. They can do what they want and they did, that's what socialist propaganda machines do, and Americans have sympathy for McCain being discriminated against unfairly. All the bullshit excuses go in one ear and out the other.
- you betcha red rider
- I don't care how many mistakes it has, nor do I care if the grammar is off. I care about having a public forum when it comes to elections and the NYT being true to form has not allowed the opponent of their chosen candidate to be expressed. I think they've shown consistently which side of the political spectrum they represent. They're on the same page as the LA Times, The Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune. It's pure and simple censorship. These are the same people who denigrate Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, Niel Boortz, and others who don't subscribe to the Liberal Philosophy. At least when someone disagrees with these broadcasters, they put them on so they can at least have a debate.
