- To get the most out of an article marketing campaign I find that it is always more affective to write an article with several different versions. The reason for this is duplicate content online. Even If you distribute your article to hundreds of article directories chances are that Search Engines like Google and Yahoo are going to index your article once. Search Engine will credit the the website were your article first is crawled. There is a more powerful way to distribute your articles that have proven to generate much more traffic than distributing one version to hundreds of directories. Example: If you distribute your articles to 150 sites than you want to create 15 unique versions of the same article. Each article needs be in the range of atleast 35% different from each other. Although this a bit more work, you will generate more traffic than running one duplicate copy to hundreds of article sites. Search Engines will index multiple versions of your article creating a wider range of exposer. The great thing about this form of article marketing is that you can work with different combinations of keyword phrases spreading that one article like a virus.
- Here is a comprehensive list of where to submit your articles http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=AhzreGmnCUicOoyedqypscUjzKIX?qid=1006022407481 My site accepts article contributions from other writers. Here's some advice on what works in terms of article marketing based on my perspective having been in this area for years: - Many sites that publish articles from writers like you are now very cautious of duplicate content penalty. If you are planning to submit the same article to hundreds if not thousands of sites, be aware that the most picky sites will not publish your articles if they know that 100s of other sites have used that same article - More and more sites are not giving hyperlinks anymore. Or if they do, there is a rel="nofollow" tag so search engines will not read their link to your site a vote for your site - Make sure that this is your very own article and not copied from others. I have received many articles that some "writers" claim as their own but are not really theirs. In fact, there's this person who submitted to an article to me with her name in the byline, even though I wrote that article myself a few years ago (basically she claimed my article as hers).
- You have received a few good answers but I will clarify a little more. Duplicate content, defined by Google, is the same exact content (to include style sheet etc.) on the same site. Since most articles directories are at least a little different, this is not duplicate content and most of the article pages will get indexed. Although this is true, it is still not a good idea to mass submit. Mass submission is looked at as a form of Spam now with the implementaion of LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) and various other algorithm tweaks. Also, writing natural articles rather than keyword stuffing is very effective these days. Good luck with your article marketing campaign ;) Josh
